Schack Art Center Glass Studio Expansion Project - Fall 2017

The Schack Art Center houses the only public access hot shop between Seattle and Canada.  They serve professional glassblowers of all ages, and train students 14 and older to blow glass.  They have been approved for funds to help with an upgrade to their high demand glass studios.  They will be removing the office in the hot shop to increase artist work space and accommodate a fourth annealer and lockers.  With minimal demolition/construction the hot shop square footage can be optimized to accommodate larger professional teams, artists creating larger scale works, and larger classes.  They will also be installing windows in the Flame & Kiln Studio and relocating the hot shop office (with IT) to the Flame & Kiln Studio.

Evergreen Speedway Repaving Project - October 2017

Evergreen Speedway is located on the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.  The Evergreen Speedway has been in continuous operation since 1954, and is Washington's only NASCAR sanctioned track.  The original paved surface of the 3/8 mile track from the early 1960's is still in place and a complete repaving of the track will increase weekly participation and attract new multi-day racing events.  There will be complete removal of the existing pavement, and regrinding and setting sub surface with polymer substance for water control, complete re-pavement and addition of 4 degrees of banking, plus driver safety run off barriers on the edges of oval surface.  The re-paving project will be completed within 10 business days from the start date.
